Why download OSCAR 1.7.1 instead of the current release?
OSCAR 1.7.1 is the last release built on the Qt5 toolkit and remains the
recommended choice if your computer cannot run the current OSCAR 2.0
release, for example:
- Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 (no longer supported starting with OSCAR 2.0)
- Older macOS versions not supported by the current Mac builds
- 32-bit Windows or 32-bit/older Linux distributions (Debian 11, Ubuntu 20.04, i386)
- Systems where a Qt6-based build is not available or does not run well
